FORGIVENESS AND RELEASING RESENTMENTS
Forgiveness is defined as the action or process of ceasing to feel angry or resentful towards someone for an offense, flaw, or mistake. Resentment is defined as bitter indignation at having been treated unfairly.
The emotions of resentment, anger are important emotions. They are viable and important to help one determine the correct action. They are also tricky emotions because, without specific attention anger, resentment can become the only thing one expresses. It is so easy to get stuck in resentment. Forgiveness can be a difficult practice to cultivate. Forgiveness is accepting what happened and continuously letting go of past hurts and resentments. Forgiveness requires hard work and time. In order to regain a healthy viewpoint, one must never be forced into forgiveness. Forgiveness and the release of resentment are highly personal. Sorting through these tough emotions is something that must be done in order to spiritually grow. |
