Touchstone For Life Newsletter - April 2020

Dear Friends,

As Spring unfolds start creating something new, exciting and positive for yourself.

Within you today is the knowledge that you are the creator of your life experience. Use your power today and take your life to a higher place.

Love and appreciation,

We are often given goals and visions, that no matter how simple or how big they are we donʼt feel we are capable of manifesting them. Self-confidence is simply having faith in yourself and the divinity that exists in you.

Often the only reason people are unhappy or disharmonious in their personal relations and/or in career is more about the resistance to a circumstance which they find themselves in, rather than the circumstance itself. In the same way, a lifeguard advises that you swim with the riptide instead of against it, the Universe wants you to accept this moment. Itʼs a gift. Ultimately if you understand that the Universe is conspiring to make you happy, you will begin to view all things, that is, all problems and opportunities as gifts.

The dictionary defines harmony as, “accord, agreement, and peace”. In order to attain inner peace, your thoughts and vision must be aligned with your actions. What does that mean? It means that you are responsible for what you think. If you are feeling in dis-accord, start by saying “yes” to anything that presents itself. Does that mean negative situations? Absolutely not – I think we all know the difference. Still, the Universe sends you exactly what you call in and/or what you need. How then do you find your own inner harmony? The answer: You must first learn to recognize what harmony is for you. Next, start to recognize when you are receiving offers and gifts from the Universe that will put you more in alignment with your best self. And then just simply say, “yes.” For instance, if you have been thinking about opening a book shop for many years and have never gone after it and then suddenly someone offers you a bookstore manager position, your first inclination might be to decline the offer. You might think things like, “I am overqualified,” or “I donʼt want to work for someone elseʼs book store.” And that may be true. But maybe if you stay open to the “yes” of it, there is another way to view the opportunity. Maybe it showed up to teach you how to run a bookstore. Or maybe the Universe wants you to be there so you can learn how to do it better. Quite possibly it showed up to reignite your passion that at the moment you havenʼt been pursuing. Because passion without action can become – not always – inertia. And then, we are out of alignment and typically not at peace. If you want inner harmony, start first by saying “yes” to your life.

Today, I celebrate my life in all forms

Today, I begin each day in gratitude

Today, I express a unique expression of Divine love

Saying “yes” is the easiest first step to creating inner harmony. Especially if maybe you arenʼt exactly sure what that is for you. When opportunities show up. When new people invite you out, say “yes” if your normal pattern is to say “no”. Beyond opening you up to new possibilities, being in the affirmative raises your attractiveness frequency. Thatʼs right, you will attract more positivity to you the more you stay in a positive zone. Try it right now. Say “Yes” with a big enthusiastic smile. Then say, “No” with an authoritative tone.

Which feels better? Itʼs all about energy. And since we are that which we think, your yes energy will attract positive people to you. Wouldnʼt you feel more at peace if you were surrounded by supportive people who wanted you to succeed and believed in you? Or wouldnʼt you strive for more peace, if you were surrounded by people who stayed very positive about their own lives? It is really hard to be negative about even your own circumstances when you are around someone who believes the notion that anything is possible. So if you want inner harmony, you have to create this very vibration. How? Yes, affirmations are one way. Positive thinking is an amazing way to find more peace.

Cook Time: 10 mins
Total Time: 80 mins
Yield: Serves 2 x1

Made from homemade cashew milk that has been seasoned with cinnamon and a hint of nutmeg

1/4 c. raw cashews
1 1/2 c. water
1 Tbsp. coconut oil (can be omitted–this just gives a smoother flavor)
1/4 c. brown sugar
2 Tbsp. agar flakes (not agar powder)
2 Tbsp. nutritional yeast
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg

For the syrup

  • 3 Tbsp. brown sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. water
  • Two 5 1/2” x 2 1/2″ mini pie pans

  1. In a high-speed blender, mix the cashews and water until completely smooth.
  2. Place the cashew milk into a medium saucepan and whisk in the agar flakes and sugar. Bring to a boil on medium heat. Allow the sugar and agar to completely dissolve and boil lightly on simmer for 5 minutes.
  3. Whisk in the nutritional yeast, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Remove from the heat and allow to cool down in the saucepan for 10 minutes.
  4. While the flan is cooling down, heat up the sugar and water for the filling in the microwave just for 15-25 seconds, enough to melt it only. Evenly place on the bottom of the mini pie pan.
  5. Pour the flan filling into both pans over the syrup until evenly distributed.
  6. Chill in the refrigerator for a good 1-2 hours or until set.
  7. Gently take a knife to cut along the sides and the bottom to remove. Be patient with this. Good things come to those who wait.
  • 2 of these will serve 4 people when they are fully filled to the brim. If you want, you can fill four mini pie pans instead of two and fill them up halfway for 1 serving.
  • Serve with coffee spiked with cinnamon.
