Touchstone for Life Newsletter - May 2021

Dear Friends,

As we head into the summer, we must be clear about our choices and thoughts for the future. Changing your life can be as simple as changing your mind. This means getting to know and accept ourselves. It also means learning to listen to others. Love is the most powerful force in the universe. It lives as a burning desire inside you, demanding your soul’s fullest expression. It will not let you rest until you fully reveal your authentic self.

This month be willing to move out of your comfort zone with yourself.

Love and appreciation,

One of our most powerful tools is faith. Faith is a tool of manifestation with enormous soul power to create because it is a supernatural certainty. Whatever we have faith in gains power from us to manifest.

All that is was brought into being with a single intention. Every single thing, every being, event, movement, and relationship – all of it - starts with the seed of intention. Intentions are thoughts that take place on a plane of higher consciousness. What does that mean? It means that your thoughts have true power. It means an understanding that intentions can be used to raise your consciousness and align with a higher purpose for your life. Finally, it means developing respect for all that is living. Once you know this, it is up to you to become keenly aware of your ownership and responsibility for each thought sent out into the world. You have the power to create every new intention delivered into the ethos. Understanding this infinite power to create, will garner for you whole new respect for your ability to affect change both in your own life and for those around you. Ultimately, focusing on the power of intention will help you to manifest a more purpose-driven life. Very simply stated, you are your thoughts and thus you are the arbiter of your own reality.

Antioxidants are compounds naturally found in foods (especially plants) that stop or delay damage to the cells. They help protect cells from damage caused by free radicals — unstable atoms that can wreak havoc on the body. Antioxidants help rid the body of free radicals before they begin to cause harm (inflammation or disease). Antioxidants are released from the foods we eat through digestion and travel through the bloodstream and into cells where they do their work on free radicals.

Today, I celebrate my life in all forms

Today, I begin each day in gratitude

Today, I express a unique expression of Divine love

You have the ability to change your state of mind. All you need to do is erase all negative thoughts, feelings, and uncomfortable emotions from your mind.  What do you have left?   Happiness!

It takes a lot of practice and patience to master this task. Think about it as, reprogramming your computer, and putting in new software. Throw all your old “files” out, put new ones in, reboot and you’re done. Well, almost. In the beginning, you will most likely have difficulties working with this “new program” because you are not used to it. As time goes on, you can make positive changes.

Get ready for summer!

- coconut oil 2 tsp, plus a little extra for frying
- red onions 1½, finely chopped, ½, thinly sliced
- garlic paste 2 tsp
- ginger paste 2 tsp
- hot curry powder 2 tbsp
- brown lentils 2 x 400g tins, drained, rinsed, then drained again
- plain flour 4 tbsp
- white wine vinegar 1 tbsp
- seeded burger buns 4, halved and toasted
- mango chutney 4 tsp
- lettuce leaves 4
- tomato slices 4
- coriander leaves (optional)

Step 1
Heat the coconut oil in a frying pan and gently cook the finely chopped red onions with a pinch of salt for 5 minutes or until really soft. Add the garlic and ginger pastes and curry powder, and continue to cook gently for 2 minutes. Tip out into a bowl.

Step 2
Put the lentils into a food processor and pulse until roughly blended but not too smooth. Tip out into the onion bowl, add some seasoning and mix well. Add the flour and stir well to combine. Using slightly wet hands, form the mix into 4 equal-sized patties. Put into the fridge to chill for 30 minutes.

Step 3
Meanwhile, put the sliced red onion into a bowl and pour over enough boiling water to cover. Leave for 5 minutes then drain well and add the vinegar and some seasoning.

Step 4
Heat a little oil in a frying pan and cook the lentil burgers for 4 minutes on each side or until caramelized. Put onto the bases of each bun, top with some mango chutney, lettuce leaves, a tomato slice, a pile of pickled onions, a few coriander leaves, and the bun top.

Get in Touch with Your Own Truth
Life is all about change, and as we develop and grow we are playing a part of this natural process. Think about a time in the past when you were happy with a certain aspect of your life (relationship, job or whatever), and then your feelings changed and somehow things didn’t just didn't’ feel right anymore. Your dissatisfaction was a sign that you had outgrown this situation and were ready to move on. Be ready to be authentic and ask yourself the right questions.

1. What do I really want to do with my life?

2. What talents and gifts do I bring?

3. Can I trust myself, and if not, why not?

4. What is my biggest fear?

Be truthful, express your real needs and desires and get in touch with your own truth.
