Dr. Pedram Navab, FAASM – Podcast

Dr. Pedram Navab is a distinguished neurologist, sleep medicine specialist, attorney, and novelist based in Los Angeles, California. His multifaceted career spans medicine, law, and literature, reflecting his diverse academic background and professional pursuits.

Dr. Navab began his undergraduate studies at the University of California, Irvine (UCI), initially focusing on biological sciences with an interest in medicine. However, his engagement with the Humanities Core program, exposure to critical theory courses, and a study abroad experience at the University of Leeds in England led him to switch his major to English, emphasizing critical theory. He graduated cum laude from UCI’s Humanities Honors Program in 1994. ​

Dr. Navab is board-certified in neurology and sleep medicine, with over 15 years of experience diagnosing and treating a variety of sleep disorders, including insomnia, circadian rhythm disorders, and sleep-disordered breathing. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine. He serves as a sleep medicine consultant at the Hoag Voltmer Sleep Center in Newport Beach, California, as well as at The Clinic in Beverly Hills, California, where he engages clients in cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I). ​

Beyond his medical and legal careers, Dr. Navab is an accomplished author. His debut novel, Without Anesthesia, published by Jaded Ibis Press, showcases his profound engagement with themes explored during his humanities studies.

Currently, Dr. Navab continues to integrate his expertise in medicine, law, and literature. He practices sleep medicine in the Los Angeles area, contributes to scholarly and popular publications on sleep health, and pursues his passion for writing. His diverse career reflects a commitment to interdisciplinary learning and a dedication to addressing complex issues from multiple professional perspectives.
